1. Flat

Filter will select a subset of the data. Results will have the same shape as the source dataset.

2. Pivot

You will "shape" the result by pivoting the members of one field onto the colums. For example, if you pivot the "Year" field onto columns, then the result will have columns for each year present in the dataset.

Note that in preview table that number fields (such as year) will be formatted with a decimal point, but this will not be present in the CSV.
