Crime rates in the City of Pittsburgh tend to be lower than most of those in the core cities of our benchmark regions.

In 2015, the City of Pittsburgh ranked as the safest city among the benchmark peers with a low overall crime rate of 3930.7 per 100,000 population. Pittsburgh experienced the lowest rate of motor vehicle theft among all benchmark cities in 2015.
