GDP – Annual Percent Change

Three regions (Denver, Minneapolis and St. Louis) outpaced Pittsburgh in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth between 2001 and 2008. However, many regions, including Pittsburgh, experienced a decline in GDP in 2009 followed by a sharp increase in 2010 and further growth in 2011. In 2015, Pittsburgh’s GDP growth accelerated to 3.3 percent from 0.4 percent in 2013.

GDP by Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is released annually by the Bureau of Economic Analysis at the U.S. Commerce Department.
