Adult Physical Activity Rates


Adults in the Pittsburgh region are not as physically active as their peers in Pittsburgh Today’s benchmark regions, according to data from the Center for Disease Control’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS).

In 2015, only 72 percent of adults in the Pittsburgh region reported that exercised in the past month.  Only Philadelphia and Nashville have lower rates of physical activity.

Seattle, with its temperate climate, leads the way with 84 percent of adults in the region who say they’ve exercised in the past month.
